THINK ABOUT THE EMPLOYEES!

Wow! Some of these reviews I couldn't have said better myself !

Amazing! Now, if only every *** customer that shops at Sally's could just read this..

Something needs to happen with this company and fast.

I cannot even begin to tell you the stories about working for Sally's.

I did get to the point where I couldn't even fake a smile.. Sally's takes your soul!

I was miserable. It is unethical and down right illegal with that they do to their employees. Upper management does not care enough to take employee complaints seriously. They only care about customers, and even then that statement is a stretch. Nothing will ever be done if you have an issue. The only reason I stayed so long was because I LOVED the other girls I worked with (this does not include the managers).

To name a few major instances, we had our manager have her friend come in and spy on us. She put in a fake customer complaint and made us sign a written warning.

After a bit of my own detective work, I found out this customer was made up, the story didn't add up and we all refused to sign the write up. It was never mentioned again once I confirmed with the manager directly that they made up a situation to get us one step closer to being able to let us all go.

They threaten your job on the daily, even if its a customer complaint about how we locked the door one minute before closing time.

They fired two of our employees without cause.

They assumed all the store issues were because of us, turns out our old manager was stealing time from the company, lying about hours, threatening employees, making up stories and harassing customers. Even after multiple customer complaints and all five employee written complaints sent to hr, she was still allowed back after sick leave.

How IN GODS NAME can a manager.. be proven to have stolen time from the company and still be let back ?! Yet, we can get a *** customer complaint and get our jobs threatened.. or in my coworkers case, do nothing wrong and get fired? I will never understand how this company is still afloat.

It is absolutely insane some of their requirements for employees, we get paid minimum wage to be treated like *** by customers.

So when you come into Sally's and you don't get one on one attention about friggen conditioner and you have the time to complain, because the worst thing in your life is an issue with beauty supplies.. if that is your biggest concern in life.. you have it pretty *** good. A lot better than the poor abused employees working in that *** hole. Also, lets be real.. everything in that place is not a life or death NEED. We are not a hospital, a pharmacy or a grocery store. It is BEAUTY SUPPLIES!!!!!!! Seriously calm yourselves. That hair color will be in stock tomorrow and the next day. If we are out of stock of a nail polish, life will in fact... go on!

If I even began to tell you some of the complaints we have gotten you would all stop your whining and actually have some compassion for what we have to deal with. Customers have made me cry, asked me to replace their bathtub because they stained it with hair dye, I have had a child drink hydrogen peroxide off the shelf because the mother wasn't paying attention and blamed me, had kids shatter nail polish all over the store and all over my clothes.

Customers will complain about EVERYTHING. -- you opened one minute after opening time.. you didn't tell me which nail polish color to get. Seriously? That's a personal choice.. the complaints are almost so ridiculous they are funny. Except when you get threatened by your manager after for something you did not do. Please people, don't exaggerate what happens or blame it on racism (we get that a lot) or whatever you would like to think it is. You are messing around with other peoples lives, jobs and the punishment they will have to face because you need to be baby sat while shopping for a *** curling iron. We are there to HELP! Not to be talked down to, know every ingredient in every product of all the thousands in the store and also, big one, we are NOT ALLOWED to tell you step by step instructions on how to color your hair at home because then we become LIABLE! We can make suggestions, we can advice against things (my favorite is the girl with black hair wanting to be bleach blond in one shot).

My coworker found out her husband was cheating on her and was crying in the backroom. A woman called and complained to a DM that "she was trying to shop for shampoo in peace and the noise of her crying in the backroom was distracting and it wasn't a good shopping experience" I'm sorry but *** YOU! Disgusting. If she only knew.. as if the employee needed a customer complaint along with everything else in her life going wrong. Guess what? There are bigger things in life than beauty supplies and a retail store. Like I said.. must be nice to have your only issue be peacefully and silently shopping for shampoo on your Wednesday afternoon. get a *** life.

I will not get in to the treatment of employees by management because it will take hours and lets just say I have had to go to the labor board, HR and head office for some issues and I was not the only one. As I am sure you can guess.. nothing was done about it.

Just please for the love of god be mindful of what you are complaining about, if its worth making the lives of sally employees even worse. I PROMISE you.. you have NO IDEA how horrible it is to work their until you have worked for this joke of a company yourself! This is not even the tip of the iceberg. I worked there for almost four years and the things I have listed were only things that had happened in the last month or two of my employment with the company.

I completely agree with this employee. I worked for Sally beauty ( co.

Dropped the word "supply") almost 13 yrs. Toward the end I was miserable and disgusted with the company. Some of the best management that had 20 + yrs were laid off. The mgr that hired me was let go.

The best rm (30+ yrs) was served his walking papers. I knew this was no longer a company I wanted to work for. I no longer work for sally beauty ( thank God). The stupidity and ignorance of the patrons for this business disgust me.

I had a patron who was having a *** fit because I refused to recycle her plastic bag to another patron. She was more worried about that gosh darn plastic bag then the amount of her refund. Mothers who thought we provided day care services. Women who would steal samples of nail polish ( on all 10 fingers) and of course the usual complaints , my hair color didn't turn out right ( Cuz they have a layer of black box hair color) using black hair color with 40 volume ( use 10 ) and of course..

The " your racist" accusation.. About 8 yrs ago an African American woman walked in and my boss greeted her ( which if u didn't run up to the patrons face to greet them it was grounds for a write up) I was walking towards the front I heard my bosses voice but the woman did not acknowledge her. A Latin woman walked in and my boss and myself greeted her. About 20 minutes later the African American woman heads towards the door to exit and tells my boss " you didn't greet me u racist dog!" I overheard and responded " yes she did you just chose to ignore her!" The woman just looked at me and walked out.

Sadly beauty also cut hrs for their ft employees. If one worked 40 hrs you were dropped to 30. The latest is now those employees were dropped to 20 hrs. All to not have to pay for benefits for their employees.

All in all this companies reputation is in the toilet. I feel for the employees I know still working for this company.

Guest

Agree. Sally Beauty's new set of changes, they are only allowing 1 person to close 4 days a week. This company does not care about the safety of its employees and is beyond ridiculous, all so they can cut hours but yet will pay employees to drive an hr to another store, have double the staff and do nothing!

I agree totally! Having employees close by themselves is a major safety issue!

How many more times are they going to cut hours? They are going to end up losing a lot of long term employees because they want everyone to be part time with zero benefits.

Been there almost 4 years and I went from 35 to 30 hrs in January 2018..effective 10-21-18 I will drop to 29 which in turn will affect my insurance...there are two of us 30 hour girls and we were told by DM that ours would not be cut...our new DM has advised that will not be the case so we will only get 29 which puts me just shy of benefit worthy. I was told that my ins would remain in force through 12-31-19 because of my continued overage hrs being taken into account.

REALLY???? Plus got the across the board raise only to learn that new employees start at the same rate and have no knowledge of store functions and certainly not any product knowledge yet for the same amount I make u have been training 3 of them that just started

Right on! Couldn't have said it better myself.

The manager at the Hamburg NY store is a gossip queen, & talks about her employees behind their backs constantly. She is petty, pushy & rude. Some of the employees there are great girls, but one in particular (with really short hair) always seems to be in another world day dreaming, stumbles her words, & always seems to be on the *** of crying when it comes to customer interactions.

Guest

It makes me so upset to read what everyone goes through with this company. I myself am a manager and I can’t even imagine treating my girls in this way.

I had to call employee services today because another manager (she’s in the same district) has caused such a bad turnover in my store that I think I’m the 4th manager in 4 years! My girls are staying ONLY cause of me and I hate that they feel such turmoil about it. I don’t understand why NOTHING is being done!!!! The gossip and the drama isn’t to be tolerated yet this one manager CONSTANTLY gets by with it?!?!?

How is that fair???

Any advice??? I’m assuming that the employee services isn’t going to do jack about it, am I right?

Guest

I just got terminated bc i was given the choice between my sick child (which they knew when hiring me) & my job. My son needed to take him to the hospital & was terminated. & everything that was said in this post is so accurate!

Sally Beauty Supply - Comfort Craft Deluxe Salon Anti-fatigue Mat Review

Ordered buy-one-get-one free item (hair conditioner) from Sally.com. Did not receive free item! Upon calling to inquire, I was told it was my error, as I should have ordered "2" items instead of "1" to account for the FREE item??? I have never heard of such! I asked "How is the custimer to know this?" She ststed "Good point!" I then voiced my concern of possibly being charged for FREE item if I did this, she stated I would in fact be charged initially, but this charge would be taken off at check out! Yeah right! She reluctantly stated "what I'll go ahead and do for you this time is send the free one!" I received a size smaller than the one I ordered! But remember, she did me a favor!!! Wow, what a crock...... and with what they charge for shipping. Be Careful eith BOGO orders

Unreliable promotion

I only received one item for the "buy one get one free" promo advertised in their flyer and online. I bought wall mahogany mount for $179 and only received ONE via UPS. When I called to ask about the other, the lady told me that I need to "buy TWO to get TWO free". What?! Then she said she'd make a note to send another one out to me, like she was doing ME a favor. Thanks for nothing. I already waited another week. I already called and emailed again. Nothing. I will never buy salon equipment from Sally again. I'm very annoyed. They need to get their web site in order.

Gift Cards

Their online store STILL doesn't accept their gift cards! This has been a problem for years, and they still refuse to fix it! I have been to three stores and they all have said they weren't aware of the problem. They always say they're going to look into it and fix it and they never do. What is the point of having online sales if no one can use the gift card? I always have to buy supplies on their website because they never have what I need in the store even when I get told over and over again that they'll have it in every Tuesday.

Rude customer service Store #10520

Sales associate was helping another customer so I waited at the register for 5 minutes. Walked over and asked if she could please check me out. Attitude from the start. She was helping a friend pick out some hair products which is fine, but from the moment she heard me walk in(they have a bell) I was not even acknowledged. I just wanted to pay for my items and leave since I was on lunch anyway but I dang sure don't need your attitude. She said Ill be right there...no more talking the entire transaction until she gave me my receipt said here's your receipt and walked away. The first time I was in the store all three sales associates were talking about their weekend and getting hammered. This store needs to hire better people.

BUYER BEWARE - EMPLOYEES NOT KNOWELDGEABLE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I will begin by stating....BUYER BEWARE! My hairdresser told me to purchase a toner over the summer months in order to prevent "brassiness," and to use it every 2 weeks.

I visited my local Sally's Beauty and explained to the young girl they hired to give hair advice that I needed a toner, and also that I would be using it every 2 weeks during the summer. She handed me a Wella Toner and then a bottle of 20 developer, instructing me to use 1 part toner to 2 parts developer. Each time I visited this same Sally's, I'd joke about having to use it every 2-3 weeks and that it was getting ridiculous. I also visited another store, again stating that I did this every 2-3 weeks.

After approx. 4 or 5 treatments I started noticing that my color was changing, as well as the texture of my hair. It was becoming "tacky" and very coarse, as well as splitting and breaking off at my part . I returned to my hairdresser for a keratin treatment, thinking that the previous treatment had grown out, although I wouldn't have needed another until the later part of 2016.

When this 2nd keratin treatment didn't help, I went back frustrated. I went to the back with her and pointed to her bottle of 20 developer and explained that I'd done everything I was told to do by each of Sally's employees. She was taken aback and shocked at my use of the 20 developer, stating that you NEVER use that with a toner...it is for COLORING hair only! Keep in mind that the employees are all young/late teens and could not possibly have the expertise and knowledge necessary for that job.

Upon calling Sally Beauty Customer Service and explaining the situation, asking that my keratin treatment be reimbursed as it would not have been necessary had it not been for the misinformation given to me by their employees. After speaking with a CSR several times, and also a supervisor, I was informed by the supervisor that they could not guarantee results. Where they heard me mention anything about guaranteeing results is beyond me, as I explained very succinctly what I told the employees, and what was given to me. Again...they could do nothing and were sorry.

So...I am not only out the money spent at the store, but also the $200+ for the keratin treatment, and the purchase of a specialty product to correct the damage.

Oh, did I mention that the last visit to my hairdresser to correct the damage necessitated a 2.5 hr visit?

Sallys needs to paay better and school employees re products ASAP!

Toner is, in a sense, hair color and can be every bit as damaging as dye. Not sure why a hairdresser would recommend using toner that often! Furthermore, if you read the instructions right on the box of Wella toner, it states to use 20 volume developer!

Guest

Toner IS hair dye and nearly all of it requires 10+ volume developer. Your hair stylist shouldn't have told you to use toner every two weeks.

If she meant that you should use a demipermanent dye or color gloss (which don't require peroxide developer), then she should have recommended a specific product. Wells is a well-known toner brand, and the girl recommended exactly what you asked for.

Bad Manager

I don't have complains about customers, but I am doing this on behalf of an employee that was coerced to quit. Sally Supplies in Orem, Utah next to Smith has a manager that has favoritism for certain employers, and the ones she doesn't like she coerce to quit all the time.

No matter how good they do their job! And how good they bring back customers. The sad and unfair part is that she made this employee cry and never let her talk, and explain or even defend herself, and the employee was going to talk to her about how she be a better asset to this store and that she wanted to do better, etc trying to do what was right. She was accused of being a lazy worker at that same moment and I know personally that is a big lie.

She is one of the hardest working ladies that I have ever met, and work with and she has a very special way with customers. Everyone loves her, even the customers that were not very nice in the beginning. Customers have told her that they will be back just because she is there. I know that the gossipers in that specific store don't do their job and drive customers away, but they are the manager's favorite, so it doesn't matter they do nothing for the store, and get away with being lazy.

I wish corporate would bring this manager forward and realize how much she has hurt their company by keeping lazy employers and firing great employees that can make a difference. She is one of the worst managers that I have ever met. She slandered and lied to this employee. She was very condescending just because she doesn't like the poor girl.

She shouldnt be a manager. Managers are the ones that you expect to be mature, and not in the game of gossiping, slaundering and mistreatment to undeserving people. I ask corporate to take this in consideration! That employee is still working for the company, but she has only one week left to work.

I wish corporate take this seriously, and do something about it.

She hurt this girl for no reason and lied to her to make her quit. It is not right!

Same thing happening at a store in Sugar Land, TX. Customer called in complaint about manager belittling and yelling at a new employee who asked the proper way to do something so she didn't mess it up.

Once the district manager came down on the store manager - the employee asked to transfer.

Went to start new location and manager and her bff in the store made up a bogus complaint in retaliation and got her suspended without pay till further notice.

Sally Beauty Supply in Waxahachie, TX Store # 3353

Sally Beauty Supply in Waxahachie, TX Store # 3353
Sally Beauty Supply in Waxahachie, TX Store # 3353 - Image 2

Issue: On 6.25.16, I purchased Semi Permanent Hair color, Blck by Silk Elements for $4.49 and 2- Silk Elements Megasilk pckg for 99 cents a piece. I also purchased some OPI nail polish for $9.99 and ION Summer spray for $3.99.

I returned the OPI nail polish back to the Grand Prairie Sally Beauty Store #3712 and to my surprise the representative at the counter reviewed my receipt and said the Waxahachie store did not give you what was due to you. I said and what was that. The semi-permanent hair color was buy 1 and get 1 for free as well as the Silk Elements conditioner pkg.

Result: 1) I called the store and was told to bring my receipt in. 2) When I got to the Waxahachie store, the Manager Trinity looked at the Sales book and checked other books and basically said I don't see where this was buy 1 and the other free.

The cashier interrupted and said I know for a fact the Silk Elements semi color was buy 1 and get 1 for free the entire month of June. The Manager told me to wait while she called her District Manager. This took an additional 20 more minutes to confirm the $4.99 and 99 cents items. I asked the cashier to please have the Manager bring back my receipt so that I can leave.

When she returned, the manager advised I can only give you the color and not the 99 cents pkg per my District Manager. So I told her if you cannot honor my receipt in its entirety than I don't want any of it. Its evident the Manager had no clue of what items were on sale nor the working knowledge of customer service. There were no postings of sale signs within the store as the Grand Prairie location so you have to ask yourself how many customers for the month of June did not get the additional sale items.

I am a Service Executive for AT&T and is very familiar with the Sally's account. It really disturbs me that the Manager AND District Manager did not make a judgment call on a 99 cent item as if I was asking for a item for $99.00. Her professionalism was very poor, and simply had no regards of my proof or receipt.

Coaching Opportunities: My role within AT&T is to ensure we meet and exceed our Corporate customer expectations and if we don't, I will do everything possible to "make it right. In turn, I would like the same courtesy.

Not giving the customer like myself the 99 cent conditioner is simply sad and rude as a Manager. Shame on the District Manager for coaching Trinity to be an unsuccessful Manager. Thanks for your time and I can assure you, the Waxahachie Beauty Supply store # 3353 will never see my presence again and not for the items, but merely for the poor customer service I received in the store. Please take lessons from the Grand Prairie store #3712 on how to have working knowledge of products AND provide unsurpassed customer service in the end.

I look forward to a call back or e-mail. Have a great day!

It seems to be a common practice for most Sally's stores. I have tried shopping in numerous stores trying to give the company the benefit of the doubt, but have just come to realize that customer service is not one of their strong suits.

And to the anonymous writer...Seriously?

Enough customers with the same impression as I and that of the woman who wrote this comment will bring this business' bottom line to the ground. As a customer you will no longer have a place to shop at and as an employee, good luck finding a job with that attitude.

Seriously. It was 99 cents. Get over it.

Terrible Customer Service at Sally Beauty 2257 Islington Etobicoke ON M9W 3W7: First of all, I do not normally do reviews however I felt this needed to be addressed. I went into this specific location to purchase hair products. This worker with purple hair and a mustache has absolutely no customer service. There was no greeting when I first stepped in simply because she was no where to be found. The day staff are always on point where they hand me a flyer and ask if I need any assistance. I could have literally took all my products and walked out of the store without purchasing it and she would not even know. Her receipts were all over the counter. When I came up to the counter she looked very annoyed as if I was bothering because she was trying to leave for 9pm when she still has 20min because it was 8:45pm. This is unacceptable. I could have gone to shoppers drug mart and walmart and they would never even act this way. The worker could not even say a simple "Thank you" after I bought everything. She did not even care to ask if I had a Sallys card. The managers need to train her to be professional and courteous to customers. Even Mc Donalds customer service can do much better.

Sally Beauty Supply Manager Review from Fishers, Indiana

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Me and my wife both went into Sally's beauty supply in merriville IN two days ago now, the assistant manager had such an attitude with my wife just asking to match some hair up. At the time the store must of had 4-5 people looking around and an awfully big line with one worker at the check out. She denied to help my wife ( or her co worker who was running around trying to help everyone out. )So we then got in line and continued waiting for help . the assistant manager who said she was on lunch then came to the front( I thought to help out this poor girl ring and get everyone out of there) but she just stood there and watched this girl trying to juggle it all. When we then were checking out the girl was nice enough to match the hair up for my wife ( as the line got bigger) she took k her time helping my wife as the assistant didn't do a thing. What I saw and how they have it ran there isn't right. I want to see this girl who actually went beyond and over to help everyone while there was madness to get some kind of promotion/raise. And I want to see some kind of punishment to this older lady , I tried calling to make my statement but it was almost like it was trying to be hidden and this isn't going unpunished if I have anything to do with it. People need to work together at there jobs and Sally's seems like a one man team

Sally Beauty Supply - Customer Care Review from Dallas, Texas

Sally beauty in Houston tx 10904 westheimer...... Very bad customer service some guy that obviously just started working there, I have always shopped at this Sally's, never seen him before, has a built-in attitude, very rude, I asked him about a setting lotion for extensions he rudely walked away to get the girl at the register to help me, who was an African-American, as I am also.

She was busy ringing customers he clearly didn't care, he was an Hispanic, clearly he felt he couldn't help me because im black and needed help with a product for extensions, stereotyping clearly he walks off and proceeds to help some Hispanic ladies and im in shock, like its 2016 really and all kinds of women wear extensions ,on top of this a man comes in clearly he is ***, he makes a sexual remark towards the man because clearly he is *** also but the man has no clue but this guy is supposed to be at work, I find out from another worker upon asking to speak with an manager that he is the manager. I say ok thank you. Not only was he rude and discriminatory and disrespectful towards another employee but making sexual comments to a customer while working should be immediate termination.

If the customer heard him this could clearly be a lawsuit. I will never shop here never.

Yes, Customer Service is horrible in a lot of stores. Years ago, I would have been fired on the spot for doing all the crazy stuff you mentioned and more.

It's not you, it's them. They have an attitude. This employee as a lot of others think thatr if they show up for work, then you should bow down to them.

I don't think so. Write to the corporation and tell them what a horrible job they are doing hiring incompetent people.

Guest

Funny you call someone else racist and accuse them of sterotyping. Then you turn around and do both of those things yourself!

Guest

You are African-American? Well, what country in Africa are you from?

Did you know that real Africans really resent black Americans calling themselves African-Americans?! So, unless you were born in an African country, you need to knock that off.

Guest

So the new employee, who apparently didn't know the answer to what you were seeking, asked another associate to help you and you scream RACISM? FFS!!!

Really? And then you further trash him in an unreasonable manner because he proceeded to try to help another customer.

In other words, this NEW employee was doing his freakin' job!!!! You've got a major chip on your shoulder and you need to get it sorted out before you post anymore nonsense online.

Guest

First of all you probably walked in the store with an attitude. If the sales associate was new he was learning and wanted to get you the help you needed; what's wrong with asking his associate for help, or to help you?

You're a racist, only people like you think like you do. You're a sad excuse for a human, shame on you for coming into a store and taking your nastiness out on unsuspecting workers who don't get paid enough to have to help people like you with your bad racist attitude against white people.
